Stuck – Same Ole Same Ole

Struggling to stay focused on your goals? Seem to keep circling back to the same place? Have you been taking some seemingly innocent detours and suddenly find yourself back on the road to “Same ole, same ole”? You are not alone. Many of us have walked that labyrinth of disappointments. What keeps us from moving forward on our goals?

It’s a Cover Up!

Excuses are the #1 reason for failure. Personally I believe I hold the prize for the most creative excuses. Stuck at Frustration Station I’ve used the most common ones:

        • Too many interruptions.
        • Just don’t have enough time.
        • I need more training.
        • I’m fine the way I am – don’t need to change anyway.
        • Perhaps I’m not meant to succeed at this.

What lies beneath our excuses?
Fear is the first culprit that comes to mind. What if I fail? What if I succeed?

Lack of commitment is next. Have you really made up,your mind to succeed or are you just going through the motions?

Can’t see the future. Succeed at what? Perhaps you haven’t taken the time to describe success in detail. What does success look like? Why does it matter? How will your world be different when you reach your goals? How will others be affected? What will happen if you don’t move forward with your goals? Who is waiting and needs you to succeed?

Break the cycle!

Stop! Take a moment to consider where you are. Are you seriously willing to stay stuck in same ole same ole? For how long?

Snap out of it! You were created for a purpose. Purpose is not a destination; it is lived out on a daily basis. Sometimes it’s about cleaning up our act - getting back to basics and doing the work one day at a time.

“I press on toward the goal to win the [heavenly] prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” Phil 3:14 (AMP)

Eyes on the Prize – See in your mind’s eye the future God has planned for you. Perhaps you can’t see the details, but by faith you know God has a purpose for you.  Many start their journey propelled by what they don’t want in their life.  While that works for a while, it is not sustainable.  Are you willing to move toward God’s best for you?  Start there.  Let your prayer be “Lord I am willing.  Show me the way.  Thank you for not only leading but walking with me as I take my steps of faith.”

Start walking it out.  Take your next best step.  Keep it simple.  Make sure your goal is attainable within a short period of time.  As you declare your willingness to move toward your best self, God will honor your step of faith.  Picture yourself succeeding.  Picture new windows of opportunity opening up as you stay faithful to your goal.  Let your success fuel your next step – your next goal. Keep your eyes on the prize – to stay faithful to walking in faith toward God’s best “you”.

Have you heard?  Your purpose in life is lived out daily.  Neither isolation nor defeat will move your closer to your goals.  Our comfort zone is a place for refueling and not meant as your home address.  Take up your Faith and walk it out!

Someone is waiting for you to show up in the fullness of your calling.” ~ Coach Maggie
