Boring? Not hardly!

Texas, Texas and more Texas. We were told the leg from San Antonio to El Paso would seem endless and uninteresting. Well…

My first impression was awe. This is God’s country – such diversity in nature. I was moved to pray … Our truck converted into what I affectionately call our Praise Mobile and we began to pray for so many on our prayer list. We were overwhelmed with God’s peace and presence. We had church! 🙂

It wasn’t too long after that we heard one of our tires blow.

Tire all gone!

Tire all gone!

Passed the 3-day Travel Test!

Three days, 5 states, almost 1200 miles and how many stops later?  We are still happily married and talking to each other.    Beagle Bailey wonders… Are we there yet?

Beagle Bailey sighs “Are we there yet?”

As many of our close friends have already guessed, we did not leave at 10 a.m. on Wednesday – but more like 12:30 pm.  Humidity held us captive as we pushed through to load our last minute items and go through our very detailed departure checklist.

RV Road Trip Take 4!

Never thought it would happen, but this NYC girl is about to embark on her 4th RV Travel Trailer camping experience this year.  My first camping experience was in the late 60’s – one I felt for sure would be my last.  But then one day…

As is usually the case with me, I started thinking out loud.  Thoughts unfiltered I was overheard by my Paul.  I felt a tug at my heart to visit our kids and grandkids who live in various parts of the country.  (We have a his, mine and somebody else’s family — 12 children and 22  grands.)  I wanted to stay a few days – but not at their place.  Instead, I wanted to stay somewhere where they could feel comfortable coming and going – where we could spend time away from their day-to-day.  I talked about a timeshare setting, possibly a hotel suite setting and yes, I even thought about renting a Camper.  I’m pretty sure I whispered that last option.  A few days later, Paul surprises me

Leaving a Legacy…

Wisdom – life lessons learned – comes to us over time. Grandchildren present us with an opportunity to share what we may not have known as a young parent. More than any other Leadership role I hold today, my role as “Mima” is one I raise to the highest priority; it has opened the love floodgates. It has burned a need in me to take advantage of every opportunity to share those treasured nuggets of wisdom and history – what matters most.

Lasso the Wind? I Think Not!

What happens when you try to micro-manage a WIND personality?
Speaking from personal experience first I laugh, then I am compelled to ask, “Really?” and finally I respond,

Not much!

Don’t know what I’m talking about? Ask me about taking the personality profile that describes “you” using the four elements found in nature. It’s simple and actionable. In a team setting, it releases the power of your most valuable resource, your people.

Core Values Matter!

Core values matter…. they’re not seasonal; they are not branding; they are commitments made in integrity to ourselves and to God.

It is easy for Business Owners to get lost in the latest trend of “what sells”. On the internet we look to Google to tell us what people are looking for, what matters most to the majority. Often leaders use their core values as a rallying point for their employees. Some marketers believe that your website should clearly display the truths that your company stands on. Others, focused on political correctness, suggest that we stay away from being too vocal about what matters most.

A Better Place to Be…

Business & Pleasure… a fine combination!

Atlanta-bound for a Health & Wellness Conference, I planned several visits with family and friends this past weekend. This was not always the case for me.

In my past experience as a global business consultant, I took pride in staying totally focused on the task at hand. I would wrap my trips with much preparation upfront and then a thorough time of debriefing on the back end. I efficiently scheduled my flights to arrive at night so that I could get to the office early the next morning.

Clean up! It’s not over til it’s over!

Look back… How many loose lends have you left this week? What would tomorrow be like if you wrapped up this week’s loose ends today?

My son and daughter-in-love have taught my Adam (4 yrs old) and Sammi (2 yrs old) how to “Clean Up!” after playtime. I don’t know how well or how consistently this works at their house, but when they spend the day with Mima, those two words are miraculous!
