Surprised by My Own Success

Have you ever been surprised by your own personal victory?  Perhaps, after repeated failed attempts, you aimed a bit lower in your goals and then suddenly… you went over the top?

As of this morning, the July Health Games have officially ended.  Hope you don’t mind if I share my personal success story of the Week.  Before I do, here’s a bit of back ground information that will help add significance to why I’m so excited to share with you.

"My Health Matters!" Coach Maggie

“My Health Matters!”
          Coach Maggie

As many know I have suffered with autoimmune issues for years.
I really didn’t have weight issues growing up until I began experiencing some digestive and allergy issues. Life stresses took their toll and after many doctors, surgeries and medications I ballooned to over 200 lbs. (On a 5’ 3” frame that’s certainly not good).

It took years to diagnose autoimmune issues and while I waited I pounded my body with a workaholic passion to give everything I had to everything I did. I lost most of my weight as reflected in the “after” picture but I still continued to suffer from autoimmune issues. It wasn’t until I began to study the Habits of Health and begin to apply them that I realized that the bulk of my health was to be found in non-scale victories.

Fast Forward to July 2015…

I joined the Health Challenge and frustrated with a stall in my weight loss, I decided to focus strictly on the “mind” aspect of health. My goal was to practice the daily habits of health and look to improve my sleep habits. So I signed up to “maintain my weight” and not to lose weight. I totally took my eyes off the scale and turned them toward the process of health – the habits. This morning, as I prepared to report my final weight, imagine my surprise when I discovered that I had dropped 6 lbs. !!!  <<feel free to join me in Happy Dance>> :)

I suffer from Hashimoto’s – a condition that causes me to gain weight and it’s difficult for me to lose it. It’s a BIG win for me to lose this weight. Ironic isn’t it – I help so many lose weight and I struggle with my own. Perhaps that’s why I’m so passionate about sharing the stories. I used to be the person who thought she was healthy. I never realized that in my quest to help others I had totally neglected myself. That’s not God’s will for us and I’m determined to be the role model – the person who shares the story that our bodies were created to heal themselves – if we would only take care of them.

If you know anything about Coach Paul and I, our work is very much a part of our ministry. God provides for us as we share our stories and seek to share Him with others through health and lifestyle changes.  As Certified Life and Health Coaches we are on a mission to help America get healthy!

Celebrating my best health possible today!
