Catapulted! Out of my Comfort Zone

Catapulted! Have you ever experienced a God promotion? Those times when you feel He has moved you to the front of the line?

Out of my comfort zone! God’s call came through loud and clear in prison. What? Yes. I met Carol Kent, the founder and director of the Speak Up Conference at a Toastmasters Gavel Club event at Hardee Correctional, a men’s prison. Previously on my “someday” list, suddenly her invitation to attend the July 2016 conference changed it to “reserve your spot now.” Suppressing a giggle rising to the surface, a childlike voice whispered to the Lord “really, is it finally time for me to write your story?”. His response: “If not now, when?”

That same day I registered to attend the Writer’s Track of the Speak Up Conference, a ministry that equips speakers and writers to take the next step.Take note: With only 3 weeks before the conference, I didn’t have time to attend; God rearranged my priorities. My husband and I added a week to the front end of our annual July RV Cross-Country road trip and took off.

MaggieWritesOn the way there, from the passenger seat, I was able to complete a first draft of a book proposal and my one sheet. Not only that, I wrote the first 3 chapters (first draft of course). Feeling so much like an amateur I embraced the fear and did it anyway. I walked into the Writer’s Conference equipped to dig in to the mechanics of writing. He had already prepared me with the heart of His message.

My first workshop: How to write a Book Proposal. Ouch! I needed a write-over. I learned so much that I thought if the rest of this conference is cancelled I’ve already received my money’s worth. The very next day I was able to pitch my idea to mentor/authors as well as a couple of publishers. I came away encouraged and challenged to rewrite the book proposal. If not now, when.

Jennifer

Cindy

I am honored to have been among so many women of faith- all focused on improving their speaking and/or writing craft so they could be more effective in sharing their Jesus. These are just two of the ladies I met this weekend, Jennifer and Cindy.

A gold medal is a wonderful thing. But if you’re not enough without it, you’ll never be enough with it. ~ From the movie Cool Runnings

God calls and He equips. I am more than enough because of Him. Propelled out of my comfort zone I am confident that He will walk me through each step of this new season. His purpose – not mine.

How is God speaking to you? Are you willing to be catapulted out of your comfort zone?
