Aging – What’s life got to do with it?

Aging is a given. Life without purpose and meaning is not. You wouldn’t show up at your job and just hang around until it was time to go home –just filling space.

Jesus tells us in John 10:10 that He came that we would have and enjoy life – in abundance – to overflowing. So, I ask, how’s life working for you? When you walk into a room, do you know that you make a difference? Is your abundance showing or are you just taking up space?

I think back at my Dad, who at 99 had a clear purpose. He impacted lives, just by showing up and giving his very best. My mom in the nursing home at 90 – in the throes of Alzheimer’s, her joy was found when they let her fold towels. They both gave life “their all” until their last breath.

Age is just a number, but lifelessness can creep in no matter how old you are. My heart – the sweet spot of my calling – is to remind you that you matter, that God said so, and that you are called to do something about it. No matter your age, if you are breathing, you have a purpose.

Your Purpose; It’s Just Not About You

Did you know, someone is waiting for you to show up in the fullness of your calling? There is lots of work to be done. Not sure where to begin?  Perhaps you’ll find something in these verses?

“Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.’  Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’” –Matthew :25:34-40 NKJV

Let Everything That has Breath Praise the Lord

As I close these lyrics repeat in my spirit, sung by Ron Kenoly, released in 1992:

Let every instrument
Sound His praise
As all His people adore
Let everything that has breath praise the Lord

I believe we are an instrument that when operating in the fullness of our calling, we make a sweet sound of praise to our Father’s ears. Won’t you praise Him by walking in your purpose? Not sure where to begin? I encourage you to spend time reading Psalm 150. If you like to make a joyful noise, then sing praises… His praises. Carve out a time of silence and wait for His leading. God is not keeping your next steps a secret. All you need do is ask.

The Time is Now
