Three days, 5 states, almost 1200 miles and how many stops later? We are still happily married and talking to each other. Beagle Bailey wonders… Are we there yet?
As many of our close friends have already guessed, we did not leave at 10 a.m. on Wednesday – but more like 12:30 pm. Humidity held us captive as we pushed through to load our last minute items and go through our very detailed departure checklist.
Camp sites along the way were Bonifay, FL, Scott, LA and finally for a 2-night stay here in San Antonio, TX. Absolutely needed the rest. As a bonus, we were welcomed with NO HUMIDITY and cool night breezes replaced the a/c last night.
Unlimited wi-fi! Yes! I was finally able to take some time out to launch our Travel Adventures blog. Writing is the gift I give myself and I have certainly blessed myself today. I’ve missed this old friend and I hope that the more I write the more you too will welcome my words into your daily life.
Our DUH moments have been significantly reduced the more we travel. My latest fiasco was forgetting to securely lock the windows. If you’ve ever driven I-10 through Louisiana – Texas you will not think I exaggerate when comparing it to riding a bull (something I haven’t done but can only imagine to be similar). At any rate, imagine Paul’s surprise when through his side view mirror he sees the window blinds blowing in the wind. A very quiet Maggie waited as Paul pulled over to correct the problem.
Unfortunately this incident has fueled Paul’s compulsion to teach me “in detail” what needs to be done. Again, I humbly wait for the memory of the blinds incident to pass so that we can resume more of a husband/wife relationship and the Professor will step back. ,<<smile>>
Not to be outdone, Paul has his own Duh’s to add to his experiences – but not for me to tattle. he-he
By the way, two good reads (or in our case “listens”) are The List by Robert Whitlow and Start by Jon Acuff. Keeping our minds fueled as we travel…
Well it’s time to call it a day. I still have some things to do to the blog design but that will be another day. For now I’m pleased that I’ve taken the initial baby steps. Paul is getting the grill ready – time to settle in to our last evening in San Antonio.
Blessings to all!
