Where it all began… Before I go there let’s talk about today.
Do you have someone in your life that is unexpected? An unlikely confidant?
Someone who meets you at your place of need?
Someone who accepts you “as is” in the middle of your life struggles?
Someone who despite your challenges allows you to speak into her life as well? Perfectly imperfect, she sees beyond that and instead taps into your gifts – draws them out – encourages you to keep going and not quit.
So Many To Mention… I hesitate to share this story as I am blessed with many examples of God’s unexpected blessings through friendships. From time to time, I’ll introduce you to them but for today…
Step of Faith.
This recent story speaks of how God honors our steps of faith. In the midst of impossibilities I chose to show up to an online morning coffee networking group. My intention was to stay in the background, perhaps lurk a bit before I committed to join this group. I was asked to introduce myself – simple right?
And so it began… Moments later Debbie introduced herself and at the end said something like, “Maggie, I’ve never met you before but I sense I need to get to know you.”
Multiplication.
Our friendship blossomed (So tempted to share details – Focus Maggie. Focus.) Doors opened and I met other women of faith, courageous, on-purpose – fellow Coaches determined to succeed by helping others do the same. We gave to each other generously and became the BAPW’s – Bad Ass Princess Warriors. (I know you want to know more but… Focus Maggie. Focus.)
Coffee – The Great Connector.
Meet Cathy, who stepped out of her comfort zone to drive across state lines for coffee with Debbie. Mostly quiet during our online video conference calls, I began to notice her gift of encouragement. She didn’t waste words – spoke with purpose when it mattered.
My recent Ah-Ha.. After watching the movie Eat, Pray, Love yet one more time, Elizabeth Gilbert’s words jumped out at me – something like “I don’t want easy; I just don’t want this hard.” And then it hit me. Yes, life has been exceptionally hard and yet God…
He provided support while I wasn’t looking – I didn’t notice until He was ready for me to move beyond myself – to take action – to be grateful.
Debbie, Cathy and Coffee.
It took intention on each of our parts. One step of faith led to another, to places we could never have imagined.
You may find yourself in that place of hopelessness – perhaps even loneliness. Trust God to give you that first step of faith. You are not alone – someone is waiting for you to show up in the fullness of who you are.
Don’t ask God to guide your footsteps unless you are willing to move your feet. – Anonymous
