Drinking from a fire hose. Not a very original expression but it perfectly describes these past three days at the Speak Up Conference. Full to overflowing, I find it difficult to end this day. A mountaintop experience I just want to hang here a while longer with my Jesus. He loves me so much, I just can’t contain it.
My God is faithful to provide exactly what I need, and I needed this time-out. I referred to this conference as an oasis in the middle of a global crisis – parched, I drank in all that God had for me.
“ ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind,’ and ‘your neighbor as yourself.’ ” – Luke 10:27 NKJV
I gave my all as a participant – with all my heart, soul, strength, and mind. I’m so, so tired – it’s a good tired. Dr. Saundra Dalton Smith spoke to us about the importance of rest. I’ll be sharing more about that in the days to come (after I get some rest.) But one thing she said speaks to what few words I’m able to share with you tonight: “Pour out of your overflow, not out of your overwhelmed.”
No overwhelm here – simply a heart full of joyful anticipation for whatever God has purposed for me. For now, rest. Let’s all have a good night’s rest.
