Fall in Love Again – Remember Why You Started

Ideas flow continually in my busy mind. Sometimes they just fly by – a faint whisper in the wind – gone forever. What was that thought, I wonder. Oh well, not to worry, there will be another. The words fall in love again however, just won’t go away. They not only surface when I least expect them, they bring with them a deep longing.

I’m reminded of this verse, “Deep calls to deep at the roar of your waterfalls…” Psalm 42:7 (ESV) I read somewhere that this means that the deep things of God call out to the deep things of man. What are the deep things of God? What is He asking of us? Of me? Of you?

Some of you are hurting or hungry for romance. You long to be loved and accepted – to be in relationship with that special someone. Perhaps that’s why you chose to read this post. Stay with me, I’ll be talking about that kind of romance soon. For now, I believe God is calling out to us. He invites us to remember who He is – to remember that moment when we gave our heart to Jesus.

Have you made Jesus your friend? If so, what was that like for you – that day you chose Him? Consider pausing here… take time out to remember.

As for me, although I knew God growing up I didn’t actually choose to be in relationship with Him until I was in my 40’s. I was a mess then. He scooped me up – forgave my mess – and suddenly I had this insatiable thirst for knowledge. I wanted to know Him, understand Him and serve Him. I remember how excited I was to share my ah-ha’s with anyone who would listen. I began to compile a running list of Bible verses that spoke to me. With minimal knowledge of His word, I would use whatever I knew to minister to others. Like a kid in a candy store, I just couldn’t believe all I had been missing. With a childlike faith I trusted my life to Him.

Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.” Matt 19:14 (ESV)

I wonder – is this message for you? Is God calling you back to that childlike faith? What are the impossible circumstances that God wants to make possible for you? Is it time to fall in love again with your Jesus?

The Time is Now

Is it time for you to choose Jesus for the first time or rededicate your life to Him? Perhaps, the relationship you long for, that love and acceptance, is with the only One who can give you all you need. If this is you and you wish to start or rekindle a new life in Christ, pray this prayer:

Dear God,
I come to You in the Name of Jesus. I admit that I am not right with You, and I want to be right with You. I ask You to forgive me of all my sins. The Bible says if I confess with my mouth that “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in my heart that God raised Him from the dead, I will be saved (Rom. 10:9). I believe with my heart and I confess with my mouth that Jesus is the Lord and Savior of my life. Thank You for saving me!
In Jesus’ Name I pray. Amen.
