Clean up! It’s not over til it’s over!

Look back… How many loose lends have you left this week? What would tomorrow be like if you wrapped up this week’s loose ends today?

My son and daughter-in-love have taught my Adam (4 yrs old) and Sammi (2 yrs old) how to “Clean Up!” after playtime. I don’t know how well or how consistently this works at their house, but when they spend the day with Mima, those two words are miraculous!

This morning, as I look around my office I am reminded to be the role model not only for my grandchildren but for my clients.

What keeps you (me) from wrapping up those loose ends?Unknown Object

Place… A place for everything & everything in its place…

I’ve set aside an armoire for their toys and a couple of other areas for the larger items. It amazes me how well those two munchkins know exactly what goes where.

Time… You can do anything for 15 minutes!

If you are particularly challenged by the clean-up process, make it fun. Set a timer. Give yourself permission to clean-up for 15 minutes at a time. Yes, adults can do this too! You’ll be surprised how much you’ll get done.

Reward… It’s not over till it’s over!

For many of us our reward comes from kicking off a new project and rarely do we allow those “wrap-up details” to keep us from celebrating completion. We are quick to check it off our to-do list even though the files are still sitting on our desk. Consider delaying the victory dance until it’s all done. When you’re done, take the time to celebrate with yourself and your team:

Good job! Well done! Thank you!

Write back… Share your own project completion tips! Some of us need all the help we can get! :o)
