Google – Truth Finder or Not? Authenticity

In the midst of a busy morning I was suddenly prompted to do a Google Search on my name as well as on Called To Action. Wow! We are everywhere it seems.

While certainly encouraging in terms of getting our name out on the cyber channels, it was also a bit unsettling.

Do I really want this much information made public?

The good news is that as I looked at the various postings on the web there was a consistent thread in our messages. At Called to Action, we purpose to live out our mission in all areas of our life.  We purpose to “be” who we say we are.

Admittedly, before I understood my mission and took ownership of my unique identity, my message to the world was not always consistent.  A people pleaser, I tried to mold my outward persona so that I could blend in with whatever group I was a part of.

My need to belong was greater than my need to be authentic.

YES! Believe it; I used to be a people pleaser.  It takes an enormous amount of energy to manage multiple Maggie’s! LOL

I’ve learned that society has a habit of “testing” our message.  Once we declare who we are, there seem to be many opportunities to test the integrity of our words. As we begin to take steps to discover our Unique Identity and take ownership of who we say we are, it’s important that we consider how to integrate our beliefs in all areas of our life.

I’ve gone from people pleaser to God pleaser.

That shift alone has contributed to a life long journey to learn not only who I am, but to understand who God says that I am – then begin to work towards His version.  As I aim to model Jesus' example on earth, I too say:

"I must be about my Father's business."

As we continue exploring Unique Identity and Purpose this month, consider this Call To Action

  1. Who do you say you are?
  2. What do others say about you?
  3. Does your communication support who you say you are?
  4. List all the roles you serve. Consider whether “you are who you say you are” in all of those areas.

Have you lost your identity in the midst of your roles?

If this is you, I invite you to take time out to rediscover the uniqueness of who you are.  You matter!

When you show up authentically you begin to serve those God purposed for your journey.

words to live by for sure…be who you say you are indeed! I guess we should watch what we’re saying first…a little more think before we speak wouldn’t hurt anyone. Thanks for the inspiration!
