Clean up! It’s not over till it’s over!

Look back… How many loose lends have you left this week? What would tomorrow be like if you wrapped up this week’s loose ends today?

My son and daughter-in-love have taught my Adam (4 yrs old) and Sammi (2 yrs old) how to “Clean Up!” after playtime. I don’t know how well or how consistently this works at their house, but when they spend the day with Mima, those two words are miraculous!

Clean up!

This morning, as I look around my office I am reminded to be the role model not only for my grandchildren but for my clients.

What keeps you (me) from wrapping up those loose ends? Read the rest of this entry »

What’s YOUR Story?

What’s YOUR Story?   What story does YOUR life tell? What's YOUR Story?
  • Is it a page-turner?
  • Inspiring?
  • Motivating?
  • Does it matter?

Did you actively invest in your story or did it pretty much just happen to you?

Where are you on the life timeline?  Read the rest of this entry »

Breaking free from “Reactive” patterns!

Embrace a “strategic” approach to Break Free!

Overwhelmed by life’s rapid-fire challenges I found myself reading my own blog posts in search of an old friend. You see, I typically am inspired to write based on my own personal experience. Ah-ha moments are much like old friends – non-judgmental, they gently nudge me to make better choices.

Embrace Breakthrough : from Reactive to Strategic Choices!Last Friday I resurrected one of my blog posts “Out of Order”  published July 2010. I was disappointed to find that I had not continued to blog on how to make more strategic vs. reactive choices. Instead, I walked them out. Over the next few days, I'll share the steps that worked for me. In fact, I’ll be walking it out again.

Without inspiration the best powers of the mind remain dormant. There is a fuel in us which needs to be ignited with sparks. ~ Johann Gottfried Von Herder

Let’s start with this…

What will motivate us to break free? In July of 2010 I blogged about that very question: Ignite the fire that fuels your future.

So, let’s do that! Let’s light the fire!

Your assignment, if you choose to accept it, is to think of a time when you were so focused on your destination, there was nothing that could hold you back.

Notice….

  • How did you spend your thoughts, your time or your resources?
  • Who was influencing you at the time?
  • How clear was your destination?
  • How did you measure success?
  • What habits contributed to your success?
  • What challenges did you face?

Let’s meet back in a couple of days. Feel free to comment on the experience here on the blog or you can track with me on our Called To Action fan page. Let’s make this happen!

From Reactive to Strategic… We coach leaders to greater levels of influence!

Celebrating our First Year in our downtown Lakeland Office Location!

Talk about stepping out of my comfort zone!!!

One of the advantages of being a Leadership Coach is that I can work from anywhere. Most of my work is done over the phone or at my client's office. I've been known to coach many leaders at Panera Bread… nothing like an oatmeal cookie and Hazelnut coffee to bring out extraordinarily powerful coaching questions! Comfortable in this free-spirit arrangement, imagine my surprise when I began to feel a tug to set down roots and move out of my home office and into a more formal setting!

Celebrating our 2nd year at the historic Yarnall Building in downtown Lakeland, FL

Called To Action, a division of Mainspring Consultants, Inc., was birthed in 2005. In business now for 6 years, we moved to the Yarnall Building, a 1920's historic building located in downtown Lakeland on May 1st 2010. Read the rest of this entry »

Think outside the smile! Listen up…

Trouble communicating with someone?

This week I am challenging my facebook fan page followers to explore the many ways we can communicate without using words!  Almost immediately, today’s initial response was: Smile!

Strategically, our focus here is on “positive” communication. If your nature is to be somewhat serious in your facial expression, then clearly a smile will do wonders for those that don’t expect that from you, but what about the rest of us?

Let’s think outside the smile!   Think outside the smile!

For example, listening is one of my favorite and most effective communications tools. Let’s assume that you are giving someone the gift of “listening”; I encourage you to set the stage Read the rest of this entry »
